Our History, Mission & Vision

About Childcare

We believe education is the most powerful vaccine against poverty, ignorance, and disease empowering communities to build brighter futures.

We support education as the foundation of healthier families and stronger communities. By keeping children in school and improving rural learning environments, we help break cycles of poverty and contribute to lasting social and economic stability.

Our Mission

To reduce cycles of poverty in rural Uganda by supporting education, strengthening hygiene and sanitation, and creating sustainable livelihoods for children, youth, and women

Our Vision

A rural Uganda where poverty no longer limits a child’s education, a woman’s wellbeing, or a young person’s future.

Our work

Our work begins in the community and focuses on children, youth, and women. Childcare Support & Education Organisation is a women-led nonprofit working in rural Uganda to support education, strengthen health and sanitation, and build sustainable livelihoods. We focus on practical support that helps families improve their lives over time.

We are fully registered in both Uganda and the United States. Our work is guided by a clear purpose: to support vulnerable children and families to access opportunities that restore dignity, stability, and self-reliance. Our field projects are based in Kanoni Town, Kazo District, where we work closely with community partner schools, including Destiny Primary School and Destiny Secondary School

Our Beginning:

The story of Childcare began not with money or influence, but with compassion. In 2014, our founder, Grace Agaba, saw firsthand how children in rural Uganda were missing school simply because families couldn’t afford basic supplies or because children were needed at home to fetch water, look after animals, or care for siblings. Others were orphans, child mothers, or living in households affected by HIV/AIDS.

What started as small acts of kindness buying a uniform here, covering school fees there slowly grew into something more organized and deliberate. With support from like‑minded individuals in Uganda and abroad, Childcare Support was born and formally registered.

Today, we continue to grow as a trusted partner, building bridges between rural communities and global supporters who share our vision of breaking poverty cycles through education, hygiene, and livelihoods.
