About Childcare

Volunteer With Childcare

Bring your skills, your time, or your heart to rural Uganda.

Volunteers power Childcare's work in rural Kazo District, sharing skills, time, and encouragement alongside our local staff, teachers, and community leaders. Whether you can give a few hours from abroad or spend time with us on the ground in Uganda, there is a meaningful way to contribute.

We believe volunteering is a partnership, not a substitute for local expertise. Every volunteer works alongside our Uganda Field Office and USA Project Office teams, never in place of them.

Hands-on volunteering alongside our Uganda Field Office, working directly with children, schools, and community members in Kazo District.

Who Can Volunteer+

We welcome volunteers of diverse backgrounds, skills, and experience levels. Most roles ask for a genuine commitment of time, a willingness to work alongside local staff and community members, and respect for the culture and dignity of the people we serve. Specific requirements vary by role and will be discussed during the application process.

Our Safeguarding Commitment+

Childcare works directly with vulnerable children. The safety and dignity of every child in our care comes before any volunteer placement.

All volunteers who will have contact with children are required to complete our screening process before placement, including identity verification, references, and a background or police clearance check where applicable. Volunteers work under the supervision of local staff at all times and are expected to follow Childcare's child-safeguarding policy.

We reserve the right to decline or end a volunteer placement at any time if a concern regarding child safety arises.
